In this week's episode, Desiree speaks with Caroline de Bossart and Robert Höglund on a variety of topics related to carbon dioxide removal, including research gaps, role of government and venture capital investors in supporting market development, and supplier and buyer dynamics.
Backgrounds on the guests:
Caroline de Bossart is currently the Director of Neglected Climate Opportunities at the Grantham Foundation where she invests catalytic pre-seed and seed capital in underfunded areas within climate, like geothermal energy, carbon dioxide removal, and critical metal mining. Prior to the Grantham Foundation, she invested in later stage climate-focused technologies at CPP Investments and consulted for Bain and Company and FTI Consulting. She earned her Bachelor’s in Classics at University of Oxford.
Robert Höglund currently advises organizations on policy and carbon removal through Marginal Carbon AB. Robert also manages the Milkywire Climate Transformation Fund where he invests in climate-positive projects internationally. Robert is the co-founder of CDR.fyi, the largest open registry of durable carbon removal. Robert was part of the Science-based Target Initiatives' Net-zero expert advisory group and previously headed Oxfam Sweden's policy and communications team, where he authored the discussion paper Removing carbon now. He is also a member of Expert Group on Carbon Removals for the European Commission.
